In line with the roadmap to unlock England from lockdowns, the local Conservative team in Redditch has decided, in line with government guidance, to resume canvassing ahead of important local elections being held on Thursday 6th May.

These elections will decide who runs your County Council and which councillors are elected to serve on Redditch Borough Council at the same time. Last year’s elections were postponed, and with over 20m now vaccinated and restrictions starting to ease now is the right time to engage with voters – at a distance, whilst wearing a physical mask or face shield.

Our canvassers will be sanitising regularly, and after knocking your door or ringing your bell will step away from your property to ensure 2m distance at all times. They will be wearing a mask or face shield whilst talking with you. Canvassers were never permitted to enter homes, and that will remain the case.

There is no evidence whatsoever of transmission as a result of door-to-door canvassing. Throughout the pandemic, deliveries have been made whether by food outlets or by the Royal Mail and throughout the whole pandemic no outbreaks have been linked to these activities.

If you do not wish to be canvassed you are welcome to email to be removed from our database, which is based on the electoral roll. Likewise, you are well within your rights to simply ignore our canvassers when they call or to put up a ‘No Canvassers’ sign if you wish, which we have always respected.

If you have any questions or concerns about our canvassing activities please email
