About Juliet
Juliet has been a Redditch Borough Councillor serving Matchborough Ward since 2004 and has been the leader of the Conservative Group on the Council since May 2013. Upon her election as Group Leader, Juliet said:
"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Conservatives on Redditch Borough Council. I will be working with my colleagues to focus on jobs, the economy, opportunities for young people and returning a Conservative led Council."
Juliet is also a Worcestershire County Councillor for the Arrow Valley East division.
Health and education are two personal passions of the married mother-of-3. Juliet is a Registered Nurse and has worked in Worcestershire hospitals. She is well aware of the pressures and dedication within the health profession.
Juliet was elected as one of Worcestershire's first Parent Governor Representative in 1998 and served on Worcestershire's Education Committee. It was whilst in this role she became a member of F40, the education lobby group for poorly funded authorities. She has continued to lobby for fairer funding for Worcestershire's children. Speaking on this she said:
"I cannot understand why my children are worth less than their cousins who live 12 miles away in Birmingham."
Juliet has been commended by Government Ministers for her instigation of Redditch Road Way Arts. Redditch has made a feature of bus shelters by putting stained glass style art work in them. Her innovative creations involved young people who are now very proud and protective of their work.
She is also very proud of making sure that taxi services in Redditch are safe for the travelling public. Under the Labour controlled council the town's taxi drivers were only tested once a year, leading to serious problems being raised following an inspection of this policy. Juliet worked with Regulatory Services and put a case to the Licensing Committee to improve the testing regime.
When not undertaking Councillor duties Juliet enjoys spending time with her family, crocheting, tweeting, reading, walking her dogs and looking forward to a holiday.
